Music and Lifelong Learning Symposium

The Ithaca College School of Music and the ACME SRIG (Adult and Community Music Education Special Research Interest Group of MENC) announce a Music and Lifelong Learning Symposium to be held September 27-29, 2007 in Ithaca, New York.

The goal of the Music and Lifelong Learning Symposium is to bring together researchers, educators, and practitioners to share research and ideas about the role and importance of music across the lifespan. The Symposium seeks to promote and disseminate research that investigates experiences affecting musical acquisition, development, and participation across the lifespan, especially that which extends into the adult years and the community beyond the K-12 school environment. Sessions will include research presentations and teacher/practitioner interactive sessions, and may focus on any aspect of teaching and learning.

The Keynote Speaker for the Symposium will be Judith A. Jellison ( University of Texas at Austin), author of How Can All People Continue to be Involved in Meaningful Music Participation? Vision 2020 (MENC: The National Association for Music Education, 2000).
