MISSION STATEMENT

NAMI-University of Iowa is dedicated to the personal liberation from mental illnesses and to the improvement of the quality of life of all whose lives are affected by these diseases. NAMI-UI is a student-run, student-led organization that provides mental health support, education, and advocacy at the University of Iowa. With the leadership of college students, the group is designed to engage and educate campus communities about an issue that merits serious attention-- mental illness.

Toward this end, NAMI-UI will strive to:

* Educate students, faculty, administrators, and other members of the campus community about mental illness
* Provide or enhance support and counseling services on campus
* Serve as an information and resource collection and dissemination center
* Advocate administrators to improve mental health care services and policies on campus and promote education about mental illness amongst students
* Solicit and receive funds in support of all of the above
