18. Buckskin Rattle

Meskwaki musical instruments include rattles, such as our rawhide example, gourd rattles, cane whistles, water drums, Plains Indian-style drums and rasp rattles. Wooden courting flutes were traditionally played in early spring at maple sugaring time when the whole tribe gathered together for a festive period.
