NCTE-SA Meeting
Minutes for April 20, 2006 1. We are an official group
on campus! Thank you Allyson for putting the
application together. 2. Our final get-together will be
after the Foundations of Education final on Tuesday, May 9th at
Quinton's. Even if you haven't been able to attend many events this
semester, please come and enjoy a study break in the company of your fellow
NCTE-SA members. We'll meet at noon, and we will not be using NCTE-SA
funds for the lunch (saving for National convention), so please bring lunch money
with you. 3. The book drive will continue over
this summer. Another group on campus is doing a drive for the schools
affected by hurricane Katrina, and it's been slow obtaining wish lists from
local schools because they're working on grades and end-of-year
activities. If you tried contacting a school and haven't heard anything
back yet, please keep at it until you get a response. Maybe try
re-contacting the school's liaison in June once school is out. Alan and
Allyson will continue to work on this project over the summer, and we hope to
post the lists at Target and local bookstores at the beginning of August when
people are doing their back-to-school shopping. 4. Stay tuned for more information regarding meetings and
officer selection for this fall. As we did in
January, we'll email you before school starts and arrange an initial meeting
before school gets too crazy. At that time we will decide when our
meetings will be (change or keep every other Thursday at 5:30) and we will
elect new officers. Thanks for all your participation this semester and for
helping us re-start NCTE-SA! Good luck with finals, and enjoy the
