NCTE-SA Meeting Minutes for
October 3, 2006
1.
Our first order of business was book talks:
·
Anah mesmerized us with her book talk on the book
Tangerine by……..
·
Future book talks:

Our second order of business was to discuss public
relations:
·
Kimberlie has emailed all of the professors of the
classes that we want to go and talk to and is in the process of
hearing back from all of them.
·
Matt is going to visit Gail Boldt’s class on Thursday
at 10:30.
·
The flyers are done and Kimberlie is going to send
them to Anah.
·
Kimberlie is going to email everyone the list of times
to go and talk to classes and who has already signed up to go. If
there are any classes still open, feel free to sign up!
·
Members created a list for everyone to bring when they
go to talk to a class about NCTE in order to make sure we touch on
all the important points. Kimberlie will send this when she sends
the list of classes.
3.
Our third order of business was to discuss Cognitive
Overload:
·
We talked about the possibility of putting links on
main University of Iowa websites for Cognitive Overload.
·
Kimberlie is going to email the Daily Iowan about
including an article promoting Cognitive Overload.
·
We are going to include the deadline date for
submissions on the flyers. We decided this date will be November 10,
2006.
·
Finally, we decided that we are not going to have a
feature section for the first issue. We will begin to include this
section after we see how the first issue goes.
4.
Other:
-
If you need to miss your office hours, please sent out an email
to all members to inform them. Also, if you are able,
please put a sign on the door during the hours that you are
missing.

Remember to turn in your biographies for the website to Anah
(anah-malamut@uiowa.edu) if you have not already done so.
The next NCTE-SA meeting will be Thursday,
October 12 @ 4:45pm in N222 Lindquist Center. See you then!
