Welcome to the web site of the Division of Neuroergonomics of the Department of Neurology, University of Iowa.

The Division consists of multidisciplinary research programs and clinical activities of several faculty members and staff whose interests and activities are devoted to transitional research on the effects of human brain lesions and behavioral disorders on human interactions with systems and machines. Dr. Matthew Rizzo is the Director of the Division.

The Division also provides research resources to UI faculty and other users who are developing patient-oriented research projects related to neuroergonomics. These resources include extensive tools for assessing vision, attention and cognition, the Simulator for Interdisciplinary Research in Ergonomics and Neuroscience (SIREN), and the instrumented vehicles (IV's); the Automobile for Research in Ergonomics and Safety (ARGOS) and the Nissan-Iowa Instrumented Research Vehicle for Advanced Neuroergonomic Assessment (NIRVANA)

The Division has close working relations with investigators at several academic institutions and with industry, and it's activities have been supported through grants from the National Institute on Aging, the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
