Drivers Invited
Driving Study At UIHC
The Department of Neurology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics is inviting individuals 65 years of age and over for participation in a study on how aging affects driving. We are interested in drivers who have been called to the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) for a license re-exam (because of moving violations, law enforcement request, or suspended license) to participate in our study. The reason for the driving re-exam must not be related to alcohol use.
Participation will include 3 visits over 4-5 years. Each visit will last 6-8 hours, which can be scheduled over 2 or 3 days, if you wish. Compensation will be provided.
Transportation to and from our lab will be provided for drivers who have a restricted, suspended, or revoked license that would prevent legal driving to and from the hospital.
Although you may have heard about this study through the Iowa Department of Transportation, the DOT does not have access to any of your specific information regarding participation in this study. Your results will NOT be shared with the Iowa DOT, law enforcement officials, insurance companies, physicians, or anyone who is not directly associated with this research study.
