Opportunity at Iowa provided support to this year's conference. OI is an outreach unit of The University Iowa which serves prospective and current students from under-represented minority groups. Karl Dennis will speak on Wraparound as an approach to reducing racial disparities at the 2006 DMC PreConference Institute and will co-host the opening ceremony.
Connie Burgess will speak on the issues of particular relevance to minority girls and the Wraparound approach.
Dorothy Roberts, Law Professor at Northwestern University and author of Shattered Bonds: The Color of Child Welfare and Killing the Black Body: Race, Reproduction, and the Meaning of Liberty will speak on Thursday morning November 30th.
