The National Resource
Center for Family Centered Practice at the University of Iowa is
pleased to announce a new certification training program for supervisors
of family support programs. The course, Strengthening
Family Support through Supervision, is a
blended in-person/on-line course. Four training days will be conducted on-site and in-person. One of the most important goals for the on-site time is developing relationships with and learning from other supervisors. We have organized training
for family support supervisors from diverse professional backgrounds
and at all career stages. The curriculum supports the
Iowa Family Support Standards and is applicable to a variety of
family support models, including Healthy Families America, Early
Head Start, Head Start, Parents as Teachers, FaDSS and local program
models.
In order to receive certification, attendance at all four on-site
days of the training and all three live webinar training dates is mandatory.
In addition, participants will need to complete some on-line lectures, quizzes and homework and
pass an on-line certification exam. Successful completion of
these requirements will result in certification by the National Resource
Center for Family Centered Practice at the University of Iowa.
.
You and your supervisor should be aware that we have not reduced the demands of the eight day certification course by moving some content online. In addition to time to complete the two homework assignments, you will need to set aside the equivalent of four 6 ½ hour days (28 hours) to complete the online and live webinar segments of this course, including the time to write out and submit the written activities.
