All applications should include:
- A cover letter of no more than 750 words outlining how your teaching and/or scholarship and research might connect to public engagement, as well as any relevant personal or professional experience that informs your interest in this work. Describe any experiences you have had either as a student or a teacher with engaged learning practices such as service projects or "service-learning." Please include your name, mailing address, primary telephone, email address, department, and name of your advisor on the top right corner of your cover letter.
- Curriculum vitae
- Confidential letter of support from a faculty member that describes
- the applicant’s standing in his or her graduate program
- the value of the Institute to the applicant’s present and future teaching and research
- the applicant’s leadership potential
Note: The applicant should share her or his application and the particular details requested from the faculty member with the writer of the confidential letter of recommendation.
- Optional letter of support from someone familiar with your civic/public engagement work, if applicable.
- Complete Obermann Graduate Institute Application Checklist signed by the Director of Graduate Studies for your department.
The Obermann Graduate Institute Application Checklist will serve as the cover sheet for the paper copy of your application. Please have this sheet signed by the Director of Graduate Studies for your department. This signature indicates that if your application is accepted, your Graduate Director will support your participation in the Institute. The signed checklist/cover sheet should be sent with your letter of application and your vitae by campus mail to Grad Institute, OCAS, N103 OH.
