The Midwest Oboe Competition

The College Division, Saturday from 9am to 12pm, and the High School Division, Sunday from 9am to 12pm, will be held in Harper Hall of the Voxman Music Building at the University of Iowa School of Music.

Prizes

College Division

  • 1st Prize $1000, with $1000 off a Loree oboe, and an invitation to perform on the opening night performance of OctOBOEfest 2009.
  • 2nd Prize $500
  • 3rd Prize $100

High School Division

  • 1st Prize $500 and an invitation to perform on the opening night performance of OctOBOEfest 2009.
  • 2nd Prize $100
  • 3rd Prize $50

 

Competition Rules

  • You must be a student aged 21 or under at the time of the auditions, enrolled in high school or college within the six-state area of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska.
  • Select repertoire from the list below. Accompanists are required. If you are unable to supply your own pianist, please contact us by October 7, 2007 for on-site accompanist availability and fee.
  • The College Division will be held on Saturday from 9am to 12noon and the High School Division will be held on Sunday from 9am to 12noon.
  • Participants must be available to accept their award during intermission of the final concerto concert of OctOBOEfest 2007, Sunday, October 14.

Registration

The $50 advanced registration fee gives you entry into the competition and to all exhibits, 3 master classes, and 3 recitals at OctOBOEfest 2007.

Registration checks should be made payable to the University of Iowa.
