- Distance from library, computer labs, advisors, etc.
- Study space
- Walk to class or need for a car
Physical:
- Enough space for activities and personal items
- Proximity to fitness/recreation facilities
- Laundry facilities
- Bike rack to store bike
- Proximity to grocery store and shopping
- Safe and well lighted areas around building
- Parking arrangements
- Pet policies
- Smoking policies
- Air Conditioning
- Curtains or blinds
- Furnishings
- Accessibility accommodations
- Proximity to daycare or school facilities
Affordability:
Does the leasing agreement include the following? If the agreement does not include utilities, (paid by landlord) can you afford the costs of these necessities?
For your consideration:
- Heat
- Water
- Electricity
- Cable
- Garbage pick-up
- Off-street parking fees
- Pet fees
- Late rent fees
- Subleasing fees

Safety:
Does the housing have the following available and functioning?
- Outside security door
- Deadbolt lock on the interior door
- Peepholes on doors
- Functioning locks on windows
- Locked access to laundry, storage, etc
- Well-lighted entryways
- Smoke detectors, fire extinguishers
- Sufficient amount of electrical outlets
- Appliances plugged into appropriate size outlets
- Locked mailboxes
