Reserving Old Capitol for an Event

Overview

The Old Capitol Museum may be reserved for events by University of Iowa groups only. Private parties are not allowed.

Available Hours

The Museum is available for receptions during the following hours:

Tuesday, Wednesday, or Friday	* 3:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Thursday, Saturday, or Sunday	* 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Basic Requirements

Catering

Food and beverages must be arranged through the Iowa Memorial Union Catering Department. Old Capitol requires that at least one IMU food service person is in attendance during the reception.

Fees and Billing

Building rental fees vary according to level of service and time of day. For an estimate, please contact Kristine Thomsen at 319-335-0548, kristine-thomsen@uiowa.edu. Old Capitol Museum staff will bill the sponsoring department following the event. Payment should be sent to Old Capitol Museum, 24 OC. Iowa Memorial Union Catering will send an itemized invoice for catering charges.
