025:183:002 CHAMBER ORCHESTRA - PHILHARMONIA (0-1 s.h.)

The Philarmonia, designed for undergraduate students, features an expandable instrumentation that allows for a variety of repertoire from Classical to contemporary composers.  The Philarmonia presents two or more concerts each semester and is conducted by graduate conducting majors in the studio of Dr. William LaRue Jones.

Auditions for membership are during the first week of classes each semester (Orchestra winds and percussion are assigned by their respective studios). To sign-up for a string audition, use the form posted on the Orchestra bulletin board outside 1036 Voxman Music Building or call 319-335-1631. The audition is 7 minutes in length and includes a short excerpt of a concerto, sonata, or etude plus a 3 octave scale and sight reading. Rehearsals are Tuesday and Thursday, 2:30-3:20 p.m., 1061 VMB.

Changes in registration should be made with the orchestra manager.
