Orchestra
025:183:001 CHAMBER ORCHESTRA (0-1 s.h.)
The Chamber Orchestra, designed for graduate students, is based around the ensemble format established during the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. Its repertoire covers a broad range from Classical and early Romantic composers to contemporary. The Chamber Orchestra presents two or more concerts each semester and is conducted by Dr. Willam LaRue Jones.
Auditions for membership are during the first week of
classes each semester (Orchestra winds and percussion are assigned by their
respective studios). To sign-up for a string audition, use the form posted on the Orchestra bulletin board outside
1036 Voxman Music Building, or call 319-335-1631. The audition is 7 minutes in length and includes a short excerpt of a concerto, sonata,
or etude plus a 3 octave scale and sight reading. Rehearsals are Tuesday
and Thursday, 1:30-2:20 p.m., 1061 VMB.
Changes in registration should be made with the orchestra manager.
