1. What is a rockshelter? How could it have been made?

2.What kind of rock could this be?

3. What direction does the rockshelter face (look at topographic map)?

4. How large is it? Could this be a clue as to how many people lived here? How?

5. Name 3 reasons why people might want to live here (think about available resources, the shelter itself)?

6. Do you see any evidence that people lived here? If not, what kind of archaeological evidence might we look for?

7. Do you see the big pile of soil at the front of the shelter? Why do you think it might be there?

8. What kind of clues could tell the archaeologists at what season(s) of year people lived here in the past?

9. We know that people who lived at the shelter were in contact with communities 100 miles to the west? What kind of archaeological evidence might tell us this?
