Appraisal of the Archaeological Resources of Cedar County, Iowa
John R. Vincent

pp. 4-19

An archaeological reconnaissance of Cedar County was conducted by the author as a project of the Archaeology Laboratory of the State University of Iowa, under the direction of Dr. Reynold J. Ruppé, Associate Professor of Anthropology, State University of Iowa. The purpose of the survey was to ascertain the number and location of sites known to the interested public and the location of additional sites through historic research and general reconnaissance. Effort was concentrated on the Cedar River valley and the immediate area, since this area held the most promise and had not been so extensively disturbed by agriculture.
