Using I-Sites: Legends and Layers

The  tab shows the symbols used to display various features on the map.

This legend will be displayed on hardcopy maps you generate from I-Sites using the tool.

To control what appears in the legend, click the  tab.

The  tab displays all the available map layers.

Display any or all of these layers by checking boxes in the  column. In the example at left, six layers are selected, and will be displayed on the map when "refresh map" is clicked.

Click boxes in the  column to control which layers will be labeled on your map. In the example, six layers will be displayed, but only four (Roads, Counties, Sites, and Towns) will be labeled.

Click a button in the third column to choose which layer will be .  This is the layer for which tabular data will be returned when using the , , and  tools on the map interface.

Archaeological sites is the default active layer. Change it to get information about features shown in other layers.

Checking  for the last layer in the list will turn on USGS quadrangles as a base layer. 250K, 100K, or 24K quadrangles will be displayed depending on the scale of the current map view

Click Refresh Map to redraw the map to your specifications.
