CHAPTER 20: LOST OR STOLEN PROPERTY

20.1 REPORTING.
Property losses must be reported to the Department of Public Safety and the Department of Risk Management, Insurance, and Loss Prevention. Any University property, including items of equipment, supplies, foodstuffs, etc., stolen or otherwise missing must be reported by phone to the Department of Public Safety, at the time that it is discovered missing. Public Safety personnel will assist the department in locating the missing property. If the property is not located within 48 hours after it was first discovered missing, the incident must be reported by letter to the Business Manager, outlining the circumstances under which the property was lost or stolen and the measures taken to locate and return the property. Within 24 hours losses shall also be reported to the Department of Risk Management, Insurance, and Loss Prevention, www.uiowa.edu/~fusrm/contact.html.
