7.1 GENERAL.
Facilities Management is responsible for the maintenance and operation of general fund-supported academic and administrative support buildings, most campus grounds, and all utility systems. It is also responsible for the design and construction of non-hospital campus buildings, utility systems, and landscape improvements.
All questions or requests for services pertaining to the general maintenance and operation of academic/administrative support buildings and of the campus should be referred to the Operations and Maintenance unit. No charges are made against departmental budgets for these services.
Requests for work which is the responsibility of the department should be made on a standard requisition showing the master file key to be charged. It is not necessary to use names of Operations and Maintenance persons or shops on requisitions. After requisitions are received in the Operations and Maintenance office, they are routed to the proper personnel and shops for action. Examples of departmental work are:

c. moving of equipment;
d. minor remodeling;
e. estimates on proposed departmental projects.

7.2 SERVICE DIVISIONS.
Facilities Management contains the following service units:
b. Utilities and Energy Management. This division is responsible for the planning, production , and distribution of electricity, steam, water, and chilled water; maintenance of the plants and distribution systems; maintaining the storm and sanitary sewers owned by the University; and assisting in the design and construction of utility plants and systems.
c. Design and Construction Services. This division is responsible for the planning, design, and construction of new buildings, utility systems, building remodeling, and campus landscaping improvements on the campus.
d. Facilities Management also contains the following units: Administration, Administrative Services, and Campus and Facilities Planning.
