Law, Health Policy & Disability Center Gets $384,000 Contract
The Disability Employment Policy Unit of the Employment and Training Administration
in the U.S. Department of Labor has awarded the Law, Health Policy & Disability
Center (LHPDC) at the University of Iowa College of Law a one-year, $384,000
contract to develop information, training, and technical activities that benefit
youth and working age adults with disabilities.
UI Law Professor Peter Blanck is director of the LHPDC and the projects
principal investigator. Project director and LHPDC associate director Michael
Morris notes that the LHPDC will assist the Department of Labor, regional
disability coordinators, and the Work Incentive Grantees nationwide through
information, training, and technical assistance activities that lead to meaningful
participation by youth and working adults in the workforce development system
and the new One-Stop career and job development centers.
The LHPDC is a leader in law, technology, education and research, focused
on improving the quality of life for people living with disabilities. Based
at the University of Iowa College of Law, with satellite offices in Washington,
D.C. and elsewhere, the center concentrates on public policy and law, and
their impact on people with disabilities. For more information on this and
other center projects, see http://www.its.uiowa.edu/law.
