Air Travel Rules Issued. With today's phased re-opening of the national airspace system, air passengers should be prepared to allow plenty of time to deal with our new security procedures. These include a ban on curbside luggage check-in and off-airport passenger check-in. Before being allowed to re-open, airports must clear their terminals of people and conduct thorough searches. Once re-opened, airports will feature an increased presence of law enforcement officers, restricted access beyond the screening area, and other restrictions.

Postal Updates Available. If you are seeking information on how this week's events may alter the U.S. Postal Service's delivery schedule, please visit www.usps.com.

AirCare Operational. AirCare is operational and can transport patients after coordinating flight plans with FAA authorities. Staff should notify the AirCare Communications Center (1-800-272-6440 or 353-6440) early in the transfer process to ensure a timely launch of the aircraft. Some delay will likely be experienced. Ground transport may need to be considered as an alternative. While it is not known how long this approval process will be required, it is anticipated that normal operations will resume soon, possibly yet today.

Car Rental Update The University of Iowa's preferred car rental supplier, National Car Rental, is waiving drop charges and any other additional fees associated with one-way rentals. Departments who have travelers stranded in other areas who need to use rental cars to get home, please make them aware of this information.
