| The
Alzheimer's disease clinic at University Hospitals and Clinics has been
renamed the Iowa Scottish Rite Masonic Foundation Alzheimer's Clinic. Harry Barrows, sovereign grand inspector general of the Iowa Scottish Rite Masons, and Charles Howard, president of the Iowa Scottish Rite Masonic Foundation, presented a check for $50,000 to the clinic. Those funds are the first installment of a five-year, $250,000 gift commitment made to the clinic through the UI Foundation. In addition to its support of the Alzheimer's clinic, the Scottish Rite Masons have supported an Alzheimer's disease fellowship in the Department of Neurology in the College of Medicine. They also have been supporters of the Wendell Johnson Speech and Hearing Clinic, to which they make annual gifts of $22,000. In all, their gifts through the UI Foundation have totaled more than $330,000 in the past seven years. |
