
Staff tuition grant application for fall 1996The University of Iowa is now accepting applications for $150 staff tuition grants for the 1996 fall semester.Grant Rules: 1. Applicants must be P&S, supervisory exempt/confidential, or merit staff at The University of Iowa, must hold a permanent appointment for 50 percent or more, and must have completed one year of employment prior to the application deadline. 2. All University of Iowa-sponsored courses are eligible, including Saturday and evening classes and correspondence courses; University courses need not be job-related. Courses at other institutions must be job-related. 3. Applicants who apply for a grant to take a course at another institution must include a statement indicating how the course is job-related and why the applicant wants to take it and must include the staff member's supervisor's signature. 4. Individuals who have not received an award for the past two years will receive priority. 5. Applicants will be notified by mail. Those who receive a grant must return the letter confirming their acceptance. Failure to do so will result in cancellation of the grant. 6. For University courses, except correspondence courses, the grant will be credited directly to the staff member's University account. 7. For correspondence and other courses, the grant will not be paid until AFTER completion of the course. To receive the funds, the staff member must present a transcript and receipt of paid tuition to the Unviersity Cashier's Office. 8. The tuition grant must be used during the semester for which it is awarded. If a grant is awarded, but the staff member does not register for a course, the funds will revert to the Staff Tuition Program. 9. If a grant is awarded and the staff member drops the course, incurring a tuition penalty, the grant will still be valid. If the course is dropped before incurring a penalty, the grant will be cancelled and the funds will revert to the Staff Tuition Program. 10. If the staff member terminates employment after the semester has started, the grant will continue to be valid. Deadline: This form must be completed in full in order to be valid.
