How do I register my car as a student?
If you are a student at The University of Iowa, then you are required by the
Board of Regents to register any vehicle you operate on campus. Registration is
free, and if you register your vehicle within 72 hours of receiving your
citation, many citations received within that period can be reduced. Come in to 100 IMU Ramp
(M-F 8 am to 4 pm) to register. No telephone registrations are accepted.
I registered my car last year. Isn't it still
registered?
Check your sticker for its expiration date. To be registered, you must have a current
year registration sticker properly installed on the lower left inside front
windshield of your vehicle. To get a current year registration sticker, come in
to the Parking Office at 100 IMU Ramp.
Where is my citation number?
If you have a green and white citation, look for the large number near the top
beginning with "06" or "07".
If you have a wide beige citation, look in the uppermost right hand corner for a letter and five numbers. This type of citation cannot be appealed electronically. Please write out your appeal and mail it in to the Parking Office along with your copy of the citation.
If you have a square white ticket or a pink envelope, that is a City of Iowa City citation. This is the link to their appeal form.
Who reviews the appeals?
Student appeals are reviewed by the Student Appeals Committee. Responses are
made by email and are sent only to a University email account.
Note:
If you are a student appealing $50.00 or more in fines, you must appear before the
Student Traffic Court to present your case.
Having problems with this page? Email your appeal directly to parking-appeals-committee@uiowa.edu with STUDENT APPEAL in the subject line.
