Student Parking Permits and Bus Pass Information

2013-2014

Please read the information provided below about the types of permits available, the Iowa City or Coralville Student Semester Bus Pass, and the tow policy. Check out our web page, http://www.uiowa.edu/~parking, for more information about our services.

Qualifications: Any student currently registered for classes at The University of Iowa, and who is not a full time UI employee (50% or greater), may apply for a student parking permit.  A student may hold only one of the following permits at a time, excepting motorcycle permits. The acquisition of any of the following permits will be considered appropriate “Registration” of their vehicle.

Due to the limited parking available on campus, we cannot provide storage or commuter parking for students living in off campus housing without parking.  We recommend those students check for rental of private parking space.

Proper display of the decal on the registered vehicle provides a discounted rate for select parking violations.

Iowa City or Coralville Student Semester Bus Pass: Currently registered students meeting the eligibility criteria can purchase an Iowa City or Coralville Student Semester Bus Pass. Students that do not own a vehicle or obtain a UI student parking permit can obtain a Subsidized semester bus pass. Students operating and registering a vehicle for a UI student permit can obtain either a Subsidized or Non-Subsidized semester bus pass based on the type of permit they choose to receive. Information on permit types and bus pass fees are listed below according to the type of permit.

Day Permit: No cost registration decal available to any registered student, except those who live in UI Residence Halls or UI Family Housing. Allows for parking at select public meters and cashiered facilities at the posted public or graduated rate.

Night Permit: No cost registration decal available to any registered student.
