The Pharmaceutical Service Division at the University of Iowa is a Food
and Drug Administration-registered (DMF 3794, drug establishment number 1918751) pharmaceutical manufacturing facility, which occupies approximately 24,000 square feet on the ground floor of the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy building. The division manufactures, under contract, clinical supplies of most types of pharmaceutical dosage forms for clinical testing. These dosage forms include sterile injectable solutions, emulsions, and suspensions; sterile lyophilized (freeze-dried) preparations; tablets (film-coated and uncoated) and capsules; topicals (ointment, creams, gels); and oral liquids (solutions, suspensions, emulsions). The division is also licensed with DEA and can manufacture
dosage forms containing schedule I-V actives. We also have the ability to carry out analytical development studies (through our sister organization, the Center for Advanced Drug Development), preformulation research, and formulation development (through our own resources as well as those of a world-class faculty in the Division of Pharmaceutics). Pharmaceutical Service typically serves over 65 client organizations per year. All projects are executed with complete confidentiality and in compliance with client-specific needs and Good Manufacturing Practices. | |||
