COPY CENTER SERVICES
The Printing Department's five Copy Centers provide quick printing, copying (black-and-white and color), and finishing. They print exams and produce many of the custom course packs that faculty members publish. Copy Center Services also helps with copyright clearance for course packs; offers addressing and variable printing; and manages the self-service copiers located in most of the University's libraries. Students, faculty, and staff may use their Hawk IDs to print directly to the Copy Centers from the ICON online course system and from the printers in the Information Technology Centers on campus.

PRINTING SERVICES
Printing Services provides products and services that include design, proofreading, typesetting, composition, digital color printing, offset printing, duplicating, and binding. It also offers desktop publishing support; network access to many of its services; large-format printing - black-and-white for the University's capital development projects and color for presentations and displays; and archival scanning. Excellence in customer service is key to all of the department's operations.

SPECIAL PRINTING ORDERS (SPOs)
Neither departments nor individuals may purchase printing and photocopying with University funds. Therefore, any request for printing or copying for the University must go through the Printing Department, which has the authority to decide whether to print an order in house or to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) to vendors. Those orders sent to outside vendors are called Special Printing Orders.

Following the University of Iowa Operations Manual and UI Purchasing Department policy, the Printing Department sends out the RFQ, receives and evaluates the quotations, recommends a vendor, and obtains a purchase order number. This process helps ensure that the Printing Department meets its charge to manage each printing project with the best interests of the entire University as the primary goal.
