Old Business:
Aly Dolan, PR Director, graduated in December 2008. Dolan was replaced by Shannon Kane, who is the new/current PR Director.
Tina Larson, Firm Co-Director, is studying abroad for the Spring 2009 Semester. Larson was replaced by Natalie Dubs, who is the new/current Firm Co-Director.
Announcements:
The University of Iowa’s Arts, Entertainment, & Media Career Fair will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2009, from 1p.m. – 4p.m. in C310 in the Pomerantz Center. Remember to dress to impress and bring copies of your resume.
The University of Iowa’s Job & Internship Fair will be held on Wednesday, February 25, from 11a.m. – 4p.m. in the Main Lounge of the IMU. Remember to dress to impress, bring copies of your resume, and your student ID. To see a complete list of the employers attending the fair, please visit <www.careers.uiowa.edu>.
Carla Keppler announced that PRSSA chapter members interested in becoming official PRSSA members need to bring their $60 membership dues to the next chapter meeting on Wednesday, February 11, 2009. PRSSA chapter members need to make their $60 check out to PRSSA. If members paid last semester, then they do not need to pay again this semester because their membership dues cover 12 months.
Caroline Jones and Natalie Dubs announced that there will be account executives to manage each of the Firm’s clients. If interested, please contact Jones (caroline-jones@uiowa.edu) or Dubs (natalie-dubs@uiowa.edu).
Jones and Dubs also announced that a new social media committee will be meeting briefly after the chapter meetings at 8p.m. If interested, please contact Jones (caroline-jones@uiowa.edu) or Dubs (natalie-dubs@uiowa.edu).
Shannon Kane announced she will be forming a PR committee to help plan and promote meetings, events, socials, etc. If interested, please contact Kane (Shannon-kane@uiowa.edu).
Genevieve Krier announced that she is trying to develop contacts with the ISU and UNI PRSSA chapters.
Megan McIntyre invited all interested PRSSA chapter members to get published articles by writing for the chapter’s newsletter, Focus. If interested, please contact McIntyre (megan- mcintyre@uiowa.edu).
Stephanie Block announced she will be taking pictures during chapter meetings, events, and socials to document the chapter’s events.
