President:
- Make sure chapter adheres to all PRSSA National Bylaws and University of Iowa Student Association Regulations
- Establish chapter goals/objectives with approval from faculty advisor
- Oversee all officers and directors
- Run all general and executive board meetings and hold elections
- Obtain and maintain knowledge of PRSSA on a national/district/chapter level
- Organize a leadership retreat prior to the start of each semester to plan for the year
- Develop and maintain contact with advisors and JMC-School Director
- Publish a president's message in each addition of the chapter newsletter
- Hold executive board meetings before general meetings
- Present member certificates and achievements at awards banquet
- Update chapter files continually
- Attend all chapter activities
Vice-President:
- Fill in for president when absent and assume his/her responsibilities
- Coordinate one major community service project each semester
- Give the chapter and graduating members information on PRSA Associate Membership
- Plan and organize all informal meetings
- Design information packets to distribute to all new members
- Serve as the chapter's National Liaison: assist the president with national, district and chapter activity updates and coordinate the chapter's involvement with conferences
- Assist president in handing out membership certificates and other awards
PR Director:
- Responsible for chapter's publicity of weekly meetings, various events, fundraiser's, recruitment drives, etc.
- Make sign up sheet for board members to make class announcements about the first meeting and PR day.
- Plan social activities and banquets.
- Post flyers/table tents announcing meetings, group awareness, etc. throughout the semester at: IMU, AJB, Becker Communication Studies Building, EPB and Pappajohn Building
- Oversee the coordination of PR Day
- Plan a winter and a spring banquet
Communication Director:
- Responsible for organizing interesting and beneficial speaker sessions, workshops and trips
- Responsible for interviewing the speaker and creating a sheet detailing what he/she will be presenting
- Organize PR outreach program
- Keep the chapter informed about PR outreach
- Compile list of businesses that hire interns in public relations an inform the group
- Obtain and post a copy of the internship list form the University COOP office in our office
- Keep a file including resumes, cover letters and other job hunting pieces so members will have references when job or internship hunting
- Keep internship files updated
- Maintain weekly contact with Cedar Valley and Quad City PRSA chapters
- Attend monthly PRSA meeting and enlist chapter members attendance at these meetings
- Subscriber to e-mail list serves of local chapters
- Coordinate one agency tour and professional/amateur exchange
- Maintain contact with other PRSSA chapters in Iowa and in our region
- Responsible for updating and maintaining alumni records
- Liaison to National Executive Board of PRSSA - responsible for maintaining contact with national board members and keeping chapter up to date on national events
PR Firm Director:
- Oversee all firm activities and meetings to ensure their proper operation
- Work with at least one client on a major project each semester
- Hold committee meetings
- Establish primary contacts with clients and maintain open lines of communication with them throughout the year
- Keep in contact with advisors to discuss the firm's progress
- Continually update files/search for new accounts
Newsletter Editor:
- Coordinate chapter newsletter to be published bi-monthly
- Generate story ideas, editing layout and writing
- Solicit companies for donations/ad space
- Develop a production schedule and hold weekly committee meetings to ensure organization and the meeting of deadlines
- Adhere to the goals and objectives designed for the newsletter in additional to journalistic standards (AP style)
- Distribute newsletter to members, advisors, display in JMC-School, PRSSA office, parent chapter of PRSA, parent chapter of PRSA and past members who request it
- Prepare the newsletter award proposal for District National Awards
- Update newsletter layout and format it semi-annually
- Work with webmaster to put newsletter online
Secretary:
- Send weekly emails to PRSSA members informing them of upcoming meetings and events, committee reports, and other chapter news
- Compose and maintain list serve
- Record detailed minutes of all meetings and e-mail them to members
- E-mail agenda to members on list serve prior to general meeting
- E-mail agenda one week in advance to J-School (rosemary-zimmerman@uiowa.edu) to announce meeting times and dates.
- Send meeting minutes to webmaster to post on web site
- Help keep the filing in the PRSSA office organized
- Bi-weekly updates to chapter advisors
Finance Director:
- Organize and execute at least one major fundraiser each semester
- Develop strategies for fundraising with committee and executive board
- Work closely with PR director in developing and executing fundraiser's
- Comply with the $1500 budget from the School of Journalism and the $300 from UISG.
- Collect dues three weeks before they must be turned in and keep filed records of dues and send them to national headquarters.

- Apply for travel funding from UISG to pay for agency tours and conferences.
- Apply for funding to pay for supplies from UISG.
- With president, submit bid for money from the university
- Attend all school organization's budget meetings/hearings
- Budget in conjunction with the executive board
- Maintain contact with the J-School Administrative Secretary
- Keep financial records updated
- Provide monthly financial reports to executive board
- Responsible for blue requisition forms needed for monetary transactions
- Work with Champions of PRSSA program to aid the chapter fundraising
Webmaster:
- Maintain chapter web site www.uiowa.edu/~prssa
- Work with secretary to post announcements
- Work with firm director to continuously update firm link
- Work with historian to place photographs on site
- Work with newsletter editor to put each newsletters online
- Frequently update calendar
- Create and maintain links to PRSA chapters, National PRSA site and National PRSSA site
Historian:
- Document activities and the progress of the chapter in both written and photographic form
- Create a system plan for documenting the year, resulting in a yearbook
- Assist the newsletter editor with photographs for the newsletter
- Develop a national/district/chapter fact sheet for members and create a James F. Fox chapter history record
- Responsible for having executive board and chapter photos taken
- Responsible for updating and expanding alumni records
