Being an officer for PRSSA is a great opportunity to gain leadership and PR experience, and looks great on a resume. The chapter votes for new officers at the end of Spring semester each year. Click here to see a description of each officer position.
PRSSA 2008 - 2009 Executive Board
Tegan Zimmerman
President
Tegan is a senior from Palatine, Illinois majoring in communication studies and minoring in mass communication. She currently has an internship with the Pomerantz Career Center writing press releases and creating publicity material for the UI. Last summer she had a public relations internship at Sarah Hall Productions in New York City. Zimmerman also interns with Universal Pictures and promotes upcoming movies on campus. Last year she worked as a public relations assistant at the WiderNet Project, helping her gain experience in the non-profit edge of public relations. Along with PRSSA, she is the public relations director of Sigma Alpha Pi, and is a member of Chi Omega and the Iowa Ski and Snowboard Club. After graduation, she plans to move back to Chicago to obtain a career in agency public relations.
Gloria Hurtado
Vice President
Gloria is a senior from Streamwood, Illinios majoring in journalism and mass communication. This year she is the vice president for PRSSA and has previously served as the newsletter editor and worked on the Firm and public relations committees. Hurtado is also currently interning for the UI Alumni Association doing marketing, event planning and programming. After graduation she will be moving back home and looking for work in public relations. Her advice to all PRSSA members is to get involved outside of the classroom and network as much as you can. If there is something she has learned in the last four years it's that sometimes it is all about who you know.
Alycia Dolan
Public Relations Director
Aly Dolan is a senior from Elgin, Illiniois double majoring in journalism and mass communication and political science. She has recently completed an internship with University News Services, writing press releases and articles for the UI. Dolan has also completed public relations and marketing internships at Riverside Theatre and One Source Talent, and has been an online correspondent for the Huffington Post Off-the-Bus for two years. On campus Dolan is actively involved with PRSSA, as well as other groups like Ed on Campus and the Dean’s Student Advisory Committee. In December, she will graduate with two bachelor of science degrees and hopes to pursue a career at a public relations firm in Chicago.
Tina Larson
Firm Director
Tina Larson is a junior from Chicago, Illiniois double majoring in journalism and mass communication and communication studies. This year she is the co-Firm director and has worked on the Firm, public relations, finance and newsletter committees. She has recently completed two summer internships with WGN-TV and DiMeo & Company in Chicago. On campus Larson is actively involved with PRSSA, as well as other groups like SPJ and Content magazine. She also actively volunteers at the Ronald McDonald House of Iowa City and Pet Central Station. In December, she will leave for a semester abroad in Florence, Italy, but hopes to be back with PRSSA next year.
Caroline Jones
Firm Director and Design Editor

Caroline Jones is a senior from Des Moines, Iowa majoring in communication studies, and minoring in art history and mass communication. She is also certified in entrepreneurial management and will graduate from the Career Leadership Academy in October. Jones has interned at the UI Trademark Licensing Program for two years, and does free-lance public relations for various start-up companies in the Bedell Entrepreneurship Learning Lab. This fall Jones is interning with University News Services, writing press releases and news stories. After graduation she plans to pursue a career in agency public relations, with an interest in corporate social responsibility, crisis communications, b-to-b marketing, word-of-mouth marketing, branding and social networking.
Jess Noelck
Secretary
Jess is a senior from Boone, IA, majoring in journalism and mass communication with an emphasis in public relations. Noelck is also obtaining a minor in political science and an entrepreneurial management certificate. Last summer she interned in CUNA Mutual Group’s Corporate Communications Department in Madison, WI. Noelck wrote internal communications for CUNA Mutual Group’s five weekly newsletters, planned and executed simultaneous fitness center grand reopening ceremonies in the company’s Madison, WI and Waverly, IA offices and volunteered with the following philanthropic organizations: KinderReady and Operation Fresh Start. Currently, Noelck is a third year resident assistant in Stanley Hall, and is the marketing/public relations director for RiverRun 2009. In addition to her secretarial duties for PRSSA, Noelck is a S.T.A.T. Ambassador, Scuba Club member, Ski and Snowboard Club member, and a dancer for Dance Marathon. At this time, Noelck is unsure of her plans after she graduates in May 2009.
Megan McIntyre
Newsletter Editor
Megan is a junior from Davenport, IA. She is a double major in communication studies and journalism and mass communication. After one semester of membership with PRSSA, McIntyre became the editor of FOCUS. As editor, she will be working to get members involved and excited about writing! After graduation she plans to pursue the field of public relations.
Carla Keppler
Finance Director
Carla is a senior from Fayette, IA majoring in journalism and communication studies. Keppler is currently an editor at The Daily Iowan newspaper where she previously worked as a reporter. She plans to put her writing skills to use in the PR world and hopes to land a job in a PR firm in Chicago following her graduation this May. Keppler volunteers as a school buddy for the Big Brothers Big Sisters club and has served on the finance, firm, and newsletter committees.
Genevieve Krier
Communications Director

Genevieve is a junior from Ollie, IA, majoring in communication studies and minoring in mass communication.After serving as vice president she was excited to utilize her networks and interpersonal skills as communication director. Krier also serves on the Firm Committee.Last summer she interned with UI Athletics and University News Services coordinating and supervising the University of Iowa booth at the Iowa State Fair. This fall she continues to work at the UI Athletics Hall of Fame as a trademark licensing intern, and serves as a peer advisor at the Pomerantz Career Center. Aside from PRSSA Krier is an active member of Campus Activities Board. Post graduation she plans to travel but remain in Iowa to pursue a career with a public relations agency.
Stephanie Block
Historian
Stephanie Block is a junior from Skokie, IL, majoring in communication studies and minoring in mass communication. In addition to her position as chapter historian, Block currently serves on the firm committee and the design team, and previously served on the public relations commitee. After graduation, Block intends to move back to the Chicago area in hopes of pursuing a career with a public relations firm or talent agency, in addition to exploring all that the city life has to offer.
