By March 2002, a first-floor area of Currier Residence Hall that formerly was used for dining and in recent years has been a storage area will be transformed into the Eastside Community Centera fitness area, an expanded computer lab, group study areas, and a large multipurpose room with a small stage. The stage is important because Currier will become home to a new Performing Arts Learning Community in fall 2002. One floor of the residence hall will house first-year students interested in any of the performing arts. An outside courtyard with tables and chairs, developed during this year, also will be part of the community center.
