Putting Their Best Feet Forward

University of Iowa students danced the day and night away during their 9th annual Dance Marathon, held Feb. 7-8 to help injured and ill children receiving care at Children’s Hospital of Iowa.

More than 1,000 dancers, volunteers, and committee members participated in the event in the Iowa Memorial Union. The 2003 UI Dance Marathon raised $607,000, up from the nearly $520,000 raised last year.

UI Dance Marathon is the largest Children’s Miracle Network Dance Marathon organization in the United States and is the University’s largest student-run philanthropic event. UI Dance Marathon has raised more than $2.8 million in its first nine years of existence.

UI Dance Marathon provides financial and emotional support through special projects to families served by Children’s Hospital of Iowa at UI Hospitals and Clinics with an emphasis on pediatric oncology.
