John Maxson of Riverwoods, Ill., and Nancy Daley of Waukon, Ia., are the 2002 Dad and Mom of the Year. They were honored during halftime of the Iowa-Northwestern game on Nov. 9. Maxson was nominated by his son, Pres, a senior English major. Daley was nominated by her daughter, Erin, a first-year pre-pharmacy major. The ceremony was part of Family Weekend celebrations. Any parent of a University of Iowa student may be nominated for the award. Recipients are selected based on community activities, volunteer work, personal achievements and honors, and an essay written by their student.
