Getting to school
and back can be a challenge for many University of Iowa students. When
driving isn’t possible, there are other alternatives.
Below is a listing. (Remember that sharing rides is a great option—if
someone else from your area has a University of Iowa student, taking
turns driving them to and from school helps reduce the number of trips
and can be a good way to get to know other University students.)
- The Eastern Iowa
Airport is served by American Airlines (www.aa.com), American Trans
Air (www.ata.com), Delta (www.delta.com), Northwest Airlines
(www.nwa.com), and United Airlines (www.united.com). The airport is
about a 30-minute drive from Iowa City.
- Shuttle service
is offered by Airport Shuttle Service (800-634-4242) and Airport Super
Shuttle (319-626-5467). Both provide door-to-door service,
monitor flights for delays and cancellations, request 24-hour advance
reservations, and accept credit cards.
- Bus service to
downtown Iowa City is provided by Greyhound (www.greyhound.com) and Burlington
Trailways (www.burlingtontrailways.com). Check web sites
for schedules and fees.
- Train service is
available to Mount Pleasant, Iowa. Amtrak schedules and costs can be
found at www.amtrak.com. Mount Pleasant is approximately
50 miles south of Iowa City.
