In February, the annual Cultural Diversity Festival offered the University community a chance to explore the music, dance, food, fashion, sports, arts and crafts, and other activities of more than 100 cultures. Approximately 2,800 people attended the event and enjoyed displays, performances, and hands-on opportunities that ranged from Bosnian and Mexican folk dance to Turkish folk and pop music to origami and mask-making. Here, UI graduate student Priyanka Khole applies a henna “tattoo” to the hand of a visitor. Khole was volunteering for Hindu Swayam Sevak Sangh, a UI student organization dedicated to creating awareness of Hindu culture and ideals.
