What would Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr. say to each other face to face? Undergraduates Barrington Vaxter, left, and Kwesi Seals, right, act out a rumored encounter between the two divergent civil-rights leaders in a production of The Meeting by Jeff Stetson at the Theatre Building in January. The play, directed by theatre arts faculty member Tisch Jones and presented by Darwin Turner Action Theatre, a social outreach group of the Department of Theatre Arts, was part of the University’s celebration of MLK Jr. Human Rights Week. Other events featured during the annual UI commemoration included film screenings, discussions, a hip-hop dance workshop, and a variety of
musical and artistic presentations.
