Iowa, Mason begin new chapter
The New York City native came to the UI campus from Purdue University, where she had been provost and professor of biology since 2001. Mason received a BA in zoology from the University of Kentucky, an MS in developmental biology from Purdue University, and a PhD in cellular, molecular, and developmental biology from the University of Arizona. She spent 21 years at the University of Kansas, where she served as professor of molecular biosciences, acting chair of physiology and cell biology, and associate dean, and then dean, in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
