A letter from the Parents Association president“There are two lasting bequests we can give our children.
Congratulations to graduating students and the families who have supported their academic efforts. We know their years at The University of Iowa have prepared them well for a bright future and we offer them our best wishes. The University of Iowa Parents Association Advisory Board made funding recommendations to a variety of campus groups during the 2010 calendar year. These were listed in an insert in the winter print issue of Parent Times, along with a list of individuals who have contributed to the Parents Fund for Student Support. Thank you again for enhancing student success through support of these We also played an active role in the 21-only ordinance campaign in Iowa City via letters to the Iowa City City Council and Iowa newspapers supporting both the University’s position and our position for the health and well-being of students. Molly Golemo, daughter of a former parent board member, has worked to enhance the late-night activity on campus, and you will read about her efforts in this issue. Family Weekend will be held Nov. 11 to 13. It’s a great way to reconnect with your student and enjoy events ranging from Hawkeye football to a game day buffet. Make those hotel reservations now if you haven’t already! Parent Times is distributed four times a year. You also can stay in touch with the University through monthly e-mail updates. As parents we have a
mission to help our children develop and make sure, as best we can, that they have a solid foundation. Then we must give them the opportunity to fly. Our students have such wonderful opportunities to both develop their talents and try out those wings at The University of Iowa.
