Reminders for parentsSend your student a special treatThere is always a reason to celebrate or say, “We’re thinking of you.” Whether your student is spending a birthday away from home or just needs a lift, University Housing and Dining can help you provide a treat to brighten their day. You’ll find customized birthday cakes, get well kits, fruit baskets, and more in the selection of Hawkeye Treats. To ensure timeliness, orders should be received at least two weeks in advance. Information is available on the Residential Dining site or by calling 319-335-3000. Hawkeye Dollars Reach Far, WideIn addition to food purchases on campus, Hawkeye Dollars may be used for laundry services and in select vending machines in the residence halls. This prepaid amount—each room contract includes $200 in Hawkeye Dollars per year ($100 per semester)—is credited to a special account, which students access by presenting a University ID. When students want to use Hawkeye Dollars to purchase food, they must inform the cashier, otherwise the purchases will be charged to their University bill. Residents may purchase additional Hawkeye Dollars in $50 increments at the Account Management Centers in the Burge, Hillcrest, and Mayflower lobbies. Unused Hawkeye Dollars expire upon termination of the cardholder’s active affiliation with the University as a current student, faculty, or staff member, or upon 12 months of inactivity in the account—whichever comes first.
