A letter from the Parents Association president
I am a very proud Iowa alumna and parent, and I just love to wander the beautiful campus and nearby downtown area any time I am in town. There is always something new to see. Next time you are in Iowa City, share a walk across the Pentacrest or along the river with your student. It’s a great way to see campus and a good opportunity to check in with your student, whether he or she is a first-semester student, a senior, or anywhere in between. This issue of Parent Times features stories on free tutoring options, a review of the 100th anniversary Homecoming celebration, and information on on-campus health care options. You also can keep up-to-date on university news online by visiting the websites of the student-run newspaper, The Daily Iowan, and of Iowa Now, the official one-stop source for UI news. You’ll also find us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/uiparents. I hope you're planning to join us for Family Weekend—it’s a wonderful University of Iowa tradition. Activities include a game-day breakfast, a magic/comedy show, and more. Mark you calendars for next year’s festivities: Oct. 25–27, 2013. Please visit us online at www.uiowa.edu/~parent or contact our on-campus liaison, Belinda Marner, at 319-335-3557 or parents-association@uiowa.edu. Let us know how we can help you and your student. On, Iowa! Go, Hawks! Susan Beck Bates (B.A. ’77) Arlington Heights, Ill.
