Deadline nears for students to reapply for campus housing
Students currently living in the residence halls received an email from University Housing & Dining in January with details about how to reapply for campus housing. The email includes the day and time that the student is authorized to sign in online to reapply. The deadline to reapply is Feb. 28 at 5 p.m.
Students living in a room without a university-supplied kitchen will be required to choose a meal plan. Each room contract also includes $200 in Hawkeye Dollars ($100 per semester). Hawkeye Dollars may be used at Burge and Hillcrest Market Places, campus C-stores, and all campus cafés and quick-serve food services, as well as in residence hall vending machines and washers and dryers.
Most halls are open to returning students. However, returning students may be especially interested in Bloomington House, Dubuque House, Parklawn, and Centerstone, all of which are apartment-style residence halls geared toward upper-class students. In addition, more than 30 living-learning communities (LLCs) welcome returning students. The main LLC for returning students is Community 234. In addition, there are many new LLCs; for details, see housing.uiowa.edu/living-learning-communities.
Room and board rates for the 2014–15 academic year have not been approved by the Iowa Board of Regents. For additional information about campus housing, including proposed rates, visit housing.uiowa.edu.
