Rape Aggression Defense (RAD)

Current Course Offerings

R.A.D. is the nations largest self-defense course for women only. R.A.D. is taught at over 1400 colleges and universities, private, municipal, state and federal agencies by more than 6,000 instructors. The R.A.D. approach to personal safety education embodies a practical blend of threat avoidance strategies and real-world assault resistance for women. A 12-hour course.

Personal Safety and Self-Protection

A lecture course that teaches the five principles of personal safety and self-protection and the two philosophies of resistance. The course also covers risk reduction which accounts for 90% of self-defense. This is a one-hour course available to all University students, faculty and staff.

Panic Alarms and Disruptive Persons

A course on how to manage panic alarm systems, expectations of the system and proper response, and how to set up an emergency protocol for your department or organization. Learn how to handle disruptive persons and emergency situations. A one-hour course available to all University students, faculty, and staff.

Counterfeit Currency Detection

A one-hour course that covers a brief history of counterfeiting, how to detect counterfeit currency, and how to handle situations when you are presented with a counterfeit note. This course is a "must" for people that handle money at their jobs. Available to all University students, faculty, and staff.

Alcohol Awareness Course

A one and a half hour course that covers Iowa alcohol state laws, Operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and the fines and penalties involved, and other alcohol related information. This course incorporates the "Fatal Vision Goggles", a learning device that simulates intoxication along with educational videotapes.

Club Drugs: "From the Rave to the Grave"

Covers effects and descriptions of such drugs as: Ketamine, GHB, Rohypnol, Ecstasy and Marijuana. This is a very important course for college students to help them be more aware of the dangers of these illegal drugs and their use. One hour course.
