A Guide to the Outdoor Warning System

The University’s outdoor warning system will be activated when the other sirens located throughout Johnson County are activated during severe weather events. In addition, the University’s system will be used to broadcast warnings for other weather and non-weather situations. Below are audio “bites” and voice message samples that will correspond with the events occurring.

Testing of the University outdoor warning system will occur on the first Monday of every month at 9:00 am.  The testing will incorporate 2 different alert tones that will sound for a minute each and is in conjunction with the testing of other sirens located in Johnson County.  Should the area be expecting threatening weather, the testing will be postponed to the following Monday at 9:00.
