So, you're presenting
at a conference?!
There are at least three sources of funding you will want to check
out. The Department of Religious Studies has some money available for travel. If you are a currently enrolled graduate student in the Department of Religious Studies at the University of Iowa, ask Maureen for a "request for travel funds" form.
To apply for departmental funds you also need to apply for
Graduate Student Senate (GSS) travel funds. The GSS travel funds
application is available from the RGSO coordinator or the GSS website.
These forms have periodic deadlines throughout the school year. Check
for those deadlines on the web or with the RGSO GSS representative.
Also check with the GSS representative or RGSO coordinator for tips
on making the most of your applications.
Finally, the University of Iowa
Student Government (UISG) provides some funding for research grants
and scholarly presentations. For presentations, the average award is
$100, and you receive funds after your trip so save your receipts. These
forms are available on the UISG website or from the RGSO coordinator.
Remember, there are also other outside sources of funding--perhaps from
the group sponsoring the conference. Talk with other students and search
the web.
Don't let $$$ stop you from building your CV!
