Emily Moniz
Emily (affectionately known as Emma) completed her Bachelors in Religion and Jewish Studies at Susquehanna University (Pennsylvania) in 2004 and her Masters in American Studies at Hood College (Maryland) in 2009. She is in the Historical Religions Traditions track of the Religious Studies PhD programme and is currently focusing on American and Afro-Caribbean religion. Emma is a first year PhD student under Dr. Turner.

Her research interests largely lay in the religious culture of New Orleans, especially funerary rituals and customs, as well as the role of religion in the formulation of identity. She is currently a TA for Dr. Holstein in The Bible in Film.

When she's away from the university, Emma enjoys cooking, rooting for the Red Sox, and the relentless pursuit of the perfect cup of coffee.
