Religion and Culture of South Asia Research Interests: After spending time as a Peace Corps volunteer in Nepal and Thailand I developed an appreciation for the diversity of localized expressions of religious and cultural diversity. As such, in addition to studying Sanskrit and Hindi, my research will take me to the heart of the relationship between "Hinduism" and the varieties of religious and cultural expression throughout South Asia, including issues pertinent to the topics of text and textuality, sexuality and gender, devotional art and poetry, dramatic performance and ritual, as well as "insider/outsider" perspectives.
