Area: Modern Religious Thought: Theology, Philosopy, Ethics and Culture, with concentration in Islam and comparative ethics.
Education: BA (Political Science and Religious Studies), The University of Iowa.
Nahed Artoul Zehr is a Ph D candidate in modern religious thought, working under the direction of Dr. Howard Rhodes. She is currently undertaking preparation for her doctoral comprehensive exams in the areas of 1) Christianty, Islam and Just War; 2) Religion and Social Theory; 3) Religion and Law in Western and Islamic Sources; 4) Comparative Religious Ethics; and 5) Islam in America. Her proposed dissertation will seek to add to the current literature in comparative just war ethics.
Zehr will undertake a semester of study at the department of religion at Florida State University in the Fall semester of 2009.
Zehr is also heavily involved in the Reigious Studies Graduate Student Organization, where she has served as Lecture Committee Chair as well as Graduate-Undergraduate Liaison. She currently heads the Undergraduate Open House Committee. |
