Ahmed Souaiaia earned his Ph.D. from the University of Washington (Seattle) and joined the faculty at the University of Iowa in 2003. He teaches a variety of courses in Religious Studies (Islamic Studies), College of Law, and International Programs at the University of Iowa.
Research:
Dr.Souaiaia's research focuses on religion, law, and politics. He is currently exploring the concepts of “dissent and rebellion” in the Islamic civilization.
Teaching:
Dr. Souaiaia's courses cover numerous subjects, including:
- Human Rights
- Comparative Islamic Law
- Religion and Politics
- Islamic Political Theory
- Women in Islamic Society
- Modern Islamic Thought
