Doug also held appointments in the Communication Studies Department, and the Curriculum & Instruction Division in the College of Education. Doug served as chair of the Rhetoric Department and on many college and university committees. He annually advised undergraduates, Ph.D., and M.A. Candidates. Doug now makes his home in Lubbock, Texas, where he teaches courses at Texas Tech University.
Recent publications include Directing Multiple Sections of the Basic Communication Course, a chapter in J.A. Daly, G.W. Friedrich, A.L. Vangelisit (Eds.) Teaching Communication: Theory, Research, and Methods. Hillsdale, NJ: Lawrence Earlbaum Associates, Inc. 1998. He is a member of the National Communication Association, Central States Communication Association, and the Iowa Communication Association. He has served as President of the Central States Communication Association, the Iowa Communication Association, and the Iowa Federation of Speech Organizations. He edited Communication Education from 1993-1996.
